Family Martial Arts Academy

 Tang Soo Do Style Karate

Master Lorrie Raemsch

I began my martial arts training when I was 16 years old under Master Mary Ann Walsh at the YWCA in Scranton, PA and YMCA in Dunmore, PA. I also trained and taught at Cap's Academy in West Side Scranton with Master Alan Caponigro.  I earned my 1st and 2nd Degree Black Belts with Tang Soo Do, Soo Balk Do. My family moved out of the area where there were no Tang Soo Do schools so I continued to train on my own. A few years later we moved back to the area I began teaching martial arts at my daughter's home school group. This grew into what it is known today, Family Martial Arts Academy of NEPA.  When I returned to training I earned my 3rd and Master Degrees with UTA Dalton under Master Steele. I've been training in Tai Chi and Qi Gong with Sifu Rick Schmoyer for the past 5 years. I also have special TASK Force Training and Gun defense with Sifu Randy Williams.

Teaching is my life's passion.  I want my students to receive the best training possible, to be able to defend themselves, and to reach their goals.

I currently hold a 3rd degree black belt in Tang Soo Do, Family Martial Arts Academy of NEPA, a 3rd degree black belt in Olympic Martial Arts Academy, and a 1st degree black belt in American Kick Boxing. I hold 4 honorary black belts in 4 additional martial arts schools.
I also hold colored belts in Jui Jitsu, Aikido, Kenpo, Judo, Sword, Taekwondo, Shaolin Kung Foo, White Tiger Kung Foo, and stick fighting. I   have also trained in boxing, Krav Maga, short sword, sai, bo staff, nunchuck, kama, Filipino martial arts, military combat training, Capoeira, Chi Gung, Tai Chi, Muay Thai, Hapkido and Mixed Martial Arts.
I have had the privilege of training with people from all over the world while I was in the US Navy. I have been fortunate to train with some remarkable masters over the years including: Alan Caponigro, Mary Ann Walsh, Timothy Gallagher, Lenny Galli, Master Cornea, and Santos to name a few. I have taken a little of what I learned from each of them and formed my own style of fighting. I truly love training and learning new ideas and concepts of looking at techniques and how to implement them into my fighting style. Other than teaching and training at Family Martial Arts Academy, I also train with Master Sal Diaz former owner of Olympic Martial Arts as often as possible in numerous styles.
I started training with Master Raemsch in 1994 at Caps Karate under Master Caponigro. We lost touch over the years after I went to the military and reconnected at UTA Karate Dalton where my children first began their training. My son, Nicholas holds the rank of Cho Dan Bo and my daughter, Katelynn, is a First Degree Black Belt. I began training and teaching with Master Raemsch in 2007 and have been training with her ever since.
I have been privileged to meet and train with some remarkable people over the years and have  made some very good friends with whom I am grateful to still have a great relationship with today. I have also had the privilege to meet a few movie stars including Chuck Norris, Stephen Seagal, Jeff Speakman and Cynthia Rothrock to name a few.
